Paintings for your home and soul

Tapestry-weaving my paintings, I express the jazz of expression and colour, whilst striving for an organic synthesis of line and form.

Original paintings

I am Areta Didžionienė. Life, to me, is a colourful journey, where I take every step with the desire to create. Throughout my life, I have worked in fields that require imagination and creativity. As long as I can remember, I have always been interested in art. Since childhood, I have thought in images and strokes of colour, while my heart never stopped whispering to pick up a paintbrush. Guided by the voice of my soul, I began painting and drawing. Painting captivated me with the magic of exploration and discovery. To me, it is not only a form of self-expression but also a space for communication and personal growth. In 2021, I graduated with a Master's degree in Visual Design from the Klaipėda Faculty of the Vilnius Academy of Arts.
Previously, I studied Evangelical Theology and Economics at Klaipėda University and Šiauliai University, completing both Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes. Since 2009, I have organised solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad. I am a member of the "Žemaitijos dailininkų sąjunga". In 2026, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania awarded me the official status of Art Creator. I was born in Tauragė and continue to live in this city today.

My creative work

In my creative work, I prioritise the human being, their connection with the environment, nature and history. In my art, I strive for a symbiosis of traditional and innovative creative tools.

Creative philosophy

Life is an ocean of endless colours, and I draw from it, transforming them through my prism and portraying them on canvases. In the painting process, new themes constantly emerge: sometimes I intuitively surrender to the guidance of the brush, and sometimes I coordinate a conscious and subconscious dance of the brush. Searches in creativity accompany me constantly, because for me painting is not only a layer of expression, but also of communication and improvement. My canvases reflect a metaphysical world where reflections of real objects find a place, i.e. various architectural fragments and details of nature, as well as figurative entities, i.e. angels and other characters.

People on my work:

Areta Didžionienė's painting differs from others through its established, distinctive colour palette and painting style, which often resembles the Impressionist painting tradition. In her works, the artist does not present herself as a point of reference—thus the reflections of banal pragmatism are erased, leaving a meditative narrative that transports the viewer into a distant and philosophically nostalgic world of fantasy. The paintings breathe a mysterious lyricism; they do not weigh one down with their informativeness, while the hazy half-tones have a calming effect and create a cosy atmosphere.
