The installation „Past. Present. Future.“ has been added to the approaches of Tauragė Cultural Centre.
The door is a universal symbol, since ancient times meaning the transition from one space to another. Perhaps somewhere in the recesses of the subconscious there is a belief that the marginal space is mysterious, dangerous, because it is unknown.
It is not surprising that until now, as we enter a new stage of life, we are being nurtured by the sacred, mythical principle hidden in our genes. At all times, in different cultures, between different spaces and levels of world perception, there have been mediators - intermediaries who help to cross the imaginary boundary. An artist can also become one of these intermediaries, who turns a door leading to another space into a work of art, thus giving meaning to the symbolic meaning given to them over the centuries. Therefore, ancient masters created especially ornate doors, decorating them with various patterns and details. This is what inspired the author to create this installation.
The author of the idea for the installation "Past. Present. Future" Areta Didžionienė seeks to actualize the symbols of ancestors, so she depicted the Baltic symbols of the Dawn Tree on three doors.
The tree is a symbol of growth, development, and the path of life, and the birds are a symbol of hope, peace, and light. The Tree of Dawn is the World Tree, whose symbolism combines three spheres: past, present, and future.
This installation invites us to pause and reflect: where did we come from, where are we going, and what are we creating today? How can historical experience help each of us understand ourselves and the world.
